PixelFit Open compressor

A practical file-size guide

Compress an image to a 200 KB limit

Set a 200 KB ceiling, compare the measured result, and download a copy. PixelFit processes the image in your browser; this page does not upload it to a server.

Set the 200 KB target

Three steps

How to get an image under 200 KB

  1. 01

    Open the compressor

The button above opens PixelFit in Compress mode with a 200 KB target selected.

  2. 02

    Choose a format

Select a JPG, PNG, or WebP image. PixelFit applies byte-size targeting to JPG and WebP output; PNG output is lossless.

  3. 03

    Compare before you save

Check the measured file size and compare the original with the result. If it is over 200 KB, try smaller dimensions or another format.

What the limit means

Keep the result below the destination’s cap

Some forms and websites set a maximum file size. PixelFit’s target is in 1024-byte kilobytes, so 200 KB means 204,800 bytes in this tool. A destination may use a different definition or enforce a strict limit; if the form rejects the file, choose a lower target and check again.

Quality comes first

Check the image, not only the number

Compression can reduce detail, especially when a photo is already small or highly detailed. Use the before-and-after preview. If the image looks poor at 200 KB, keep the original or ask whether a larger file is accepted.

Common questions

Before you compress

Will every image fit under 200 KB?

No. Dimensions, image detail, output format, and the minimum quality setting affect the result. PixelFit reports when the selected target is not reached; it does not label an oversized result as a success.

Does a 200 KB file keep the same visual quality?

Not necessarily. Smaller files can lose detail. Compare the preview at the size it will be viewed and keep the original if the result does not look good enough.

Can I use a smaller target?

Yes. Set another value in the compressor or use the 100 KB guide. If a destination’s limit is strict, leave room below its stated maximum.

Are my images uploaded?

No. PixelFit reads and processes the selected image in the current browser tab and creates a temporary local download. This guide page does not send your image to PixelFit’s server.

Ready to check the file size?

Start with 200 KB, then inspect both the measured size and the preview before you use the file.
